Katie Ledecky, an American swimmer, earned a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics before breaking multiple world records.

She won four gold medals and one silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics, continuing her winning streak.

Katie Ledecky was born in 1997 in Maryland and began swimming competitively when she was six years old.

She was selected for the United States Olympic team at the age of 15 and earned a gold medal in the 800-meter freestyle at the 2012 Summer Games, setting an American record in the process.

Ledecky has set world records in a variety of freestyle events ranging from 400 to 1,500 meters since then.

In the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, she dominated the pool, earning gold in the 400-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle, and 4×200-meter freestyle relay, as well as silver in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay.

In the 800-meter freestyle, she also won gold, breaking the world record.

Katie Ledecky is the daughter of David and Mary Gen Ledecky. Katie’s mother, Mary Gen, was a competitive swimmer at the University of New Mexico, and her father, David Ledecky, is a lawyer who supports his daughter’s profession.
