When we’re watching our favorite Netflix shows, many times it’s where the characters live that catches our attention. The homes are so beautiful. Or in the case of the Byers home in Stranger Things, the house itself plays a very central role in the first season as Joyce works to communicate with Will in the Upside Down, and it’s the meeting place to figure out what the group is going to do.

You just look at some of these homes and think, “That looks my dream home.” Those include places like the Stone family home in Manifest, Beth’s house in The Queen’s Gambit, and what about Mel’s cozy cabin on Virgin River?

Or you know you might want a place like the Byers home that was a magnet to everything dark from the Upside Down. Yeah, thank you. I’ll pass. It’s usually obvious that the houses the characters own could no way afford them with the jobs they have in real life. If you’re wondering just how much these humble abodes would cost in real life, you’re in luck.

Compare the Market has done a study and analyzed the average value of properties within the filming locations from Zillow’s average home values data. Check out some of their findings below!

How much it could really cost to live in a home like the Byers in Stranger Things, press release and study via email from Compare the Market

The average cost of a home in Fayetteville, Georgia, on the same street as the Byers’ family in Stranger Things, would be $299,122. That price could increase to $1.14 million by 2030. The Demogorgon and other Upside Down creatures can have the house, I don’t have that kind of money lying around!

Manifest is filmed in New York, and if there’s one thing the state is known for, it’s the cost of living. The Stone family home is beautiful. So how much would you pay to live in it? The average value of the house is currently $679,149. By 2030, it’s predicted to rise to $1.52 million. Whoa!

Vancouver’s nature is absolutely breathtaking. It would be such an ideal place to live, especially in a cozy cabin like Mel’s in Virgin River. Well, if that’s what you want, bring out the big bucks! A home in North Vancouver, British Colombia in the same location as where the show is filmed is currently priced at $1.26 million Canadian dollars. It’s expected to make a slight increase to $1.43 million Canadian dollars by 2030.
